This is my humorous way to both try and give writing tips and vent--it's the start of something terrible.

1. Sigh. There is a lot of sighing. Sighing helps establish the fact that the character is a loner, depressed, and has a tragic past. However, sighing is not limited to those three facets of originality. Sighing also proves that the character is bored, unsatisfied, irritated, tired, content, musing, whimsical, or otherwise pensive. Sigh–it’s not just a four-letter word!

Summary: What is it? How can you spot one (and the subtypes of a Mary Sue)? And how you can avoid them? Or better yet, how can I develop my character better? This includes tips, examples, litmus tests and useful links. So even if your character has some Mary Sue traits/tendencies, the Mary-Sueness can still be averted by a good enough explanation for why they have it and why they do what they do.

Summary: You are absolutely sure your characters are not Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus etc. You have given them flaws, weaknesses, and such believability that they could be reading over your shoulder. So why are people still claiming your character is a MS? It could be in your writing style!

Summary: Dreams and flashbacks aren't the easiest scenes to portray, and there are often people who say "writers who write dream/flashbacks in their story are obviously amateurs." So let's learn how to write these scenes well and blow their minds.
