Back in Business

Sorry about the downtime, folks. Our latest round of growing pains obliterated the server end of last month. We were up to 10,000 people a DAY visiting the site, which was way above our limits. Our host was very generous and allowed us to go over for a long time, but once the server crashed -- they had no choice but to shut us down.

We're in the process of being migrated to a larger and more powerful server that should be able to handle the load for the time being. I ask everyone to please go easy on posting things while this move is underway.

Since the site has been down for a bit, the mods have not been able to process the queue. Please be patient while we get back up to speed.

Although it's cumbersome to keep moving the server, it's awesome to hear that so many people visit Luna every day! Best of luck with the process and it's great to see Luna back up! :)

Thank goodness! I was having Luna-withdraw. Growing is good. I hadn't realized it was so much! I promise to post lightly.

I'm just glad that there seems to be no problems with everything! I'm glad the site is growing and it's exciting to see how much it is growing by! You go, ladies (and gents)!

And, Sally, thank you so much for all your hard work. Though it might be a strain at times, I'm pretty sure I speak for everyone on the site when I say that we appreciate it lots!

I just wanted to give everyone a quick behind-the-scenes update, so have a couple of notes.

The queue is currently open.

The old average (going back a little over a year) length for the queue was around 100 stories. Since the queue limitation was put into place, the total number of stories in the queue at any given time has not reached 100 stories, even while the amount of visitors per day has gone from 75,000 to 100,000.

Because of the server transfer (and Sally's request to be gentle about posting) we'll likely lock the queue if it reaches 150 stories. This would not be because of our capacity to process them; it would be to keep the server's load low during the transfer. (We don't think we'll have to, since we haven't seen a huge surge yet, but it could happen. We're hoping to avoid it.)

I missed Luna so much, it ached so much! D: but now that the site is back (granted, we have to limit our posts, but who cares! LUNA IS BACK!!) I am so happy to be alive! D: I was having a terrible week and this was such a good new for me! ^^ so thank you for everything!
